We selected 4 different trees around our school to observe and record the date for leaf out. This year spring was very cool. We predicted our trees would have leaves before the end of March. When it snowed in April we adjusted our predictions. We still guessed too early. Finally on April 24, 2001, we checked once again and found that the weeping birch tree, the silver maple tree and the flowering cherry tree had leaves the size of a quarter. We have one more tree to observe but it still has tight buds.
