Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/09/2001

Number: 1

Today the first female monarch of the new generation hatched
here at the George Observatory. She is drying her wings, hanging
on a penta flower. I inspected the milkweed today, and all plants have eggs on them, many leaves have a single egg, but each plants has a number of eggs. Incidentally, we have had a bumper crop of beautiful Tiger swallowtails this spring. Both the male yellow and black and the female black form. They are constantly feeding on one plant, Duranta Repens.
