I am a master gardener volunteer and I work in the butterfly garden of the Virginia Tech research station in Norfolk, Virginia. I worked in the garden for 3 hours this morning and saw no monarch butterflies, found no eggs or caterpillers. The milkweed is approx. 2 ft tall and some stalks have buds on them. The temperatures this spring have been a little lower than usual for this time of year.
