I just saw my first monarch. It seemed to be in good condition except being somewhat faded.
I just found 28 eggs on my common milkweed plants. I think I
might have had more than one butterfly because half of the eggs
were laid lower on the plants and the other half were on the tiny
top leaves and on a couple of flower buds.
It is a beautiful sunny day and in the 70's here in southeast
Wisconsin. I am 20 miles west of Milwaukee and still amazed how
the butterflies still find my milkweed patch here in the city.
Those of you searching for eggs, remember to check your flower
buds. They love to hide the eggs there.
