Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/18/2001

Number: 1

The first Monarch I saw had fresh wings indicating that it was born sometime this year. The sighting occurred on the same day Red Admirals and American Painted Ladies were also migrating through our area. The Monarch landed on some flowers briefly for a moment and then headed north again. Later the same day, I found a second Monarch in our yard. It landed on a blooming Lilac bush for a few sips of nectar and then it also proceeded to travel in a northward direction.
