I was sitting outside after working all day in the front garden ... around 5pm ... and noticed my first monarch flitting between a flowering shrub and the freshly watered baby pine trees. The wings looked shiny and new to me from a distance of about 20 feet. He/she seemed thirsty and was enjoying the drops of water found on the grass, leaves, and pine needles.
