Haven't seen any monarchs yet but about a week ago while preparing vegetable garden at my parents' home in Thorold, Ontario, Canada, (43.12, 79.20) noticed a Common Milkweed that was about 6 inches tall, small fresh leaves coming on.
Then, on Sunday.20.May.2001 while leading a guided nature walk in the Niagara Glen (43.13, 79.05) I spotted another few Milkweed plants, about same size and condition as mentioned above
and on one plant there was a small round white egg deposited on a leaf. Have eyes peeled for that very first Monarch in my area here!
