I watched a female monarch off and on today in our garden. She would nectar on common milkweed blooms for a while, then fly across a field to a group of trees, finally returning to the patch of milkweed. She landed on a large common milkweed leaf and remained there for about 15 minutes. Temps were in the low 70's with mostly sunny skies and west winds around 5-15 mph. The next day a monarch flew quickly through our backyard on a northeast track aided by gusty SW winds.
