Kay and Abby Kivit saw 11 monarchs while they monitored for eggs and larvae at Peninsula Point, Hiawatha National Forest.
The monarchs arrived at Peninsula Point between
16-May and 23-May. Larval monitoring on 23-May found 160 eggs on the 200
plants checked. Monitoring on 30-May found 180 eggs on 325 plants. Wow!
The bad news is there is a frost warning for tonight (5/30/01).
