We are in Chapel Hill, North
Carolina and we have not yet seen one Monarch butterfly. Last year at
this time we had a chrysallis in our classroom that had come from milkweed
in a near by garden. Our butterfly hatched out about a week before
school was out which would have been the first week in June. As long as I
have been participating in the project we have always had many sitings by
mid May. Any explainations???? I have hunted the countryside, checked
all the milkweed and haven't seen a caterpillar yet.
