Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/08/2001

Number: 1

Friday, June 8, 2001...10:50am.
This is the almost world famous grade 3-4 class reporting that....we have FINALLY seen our very first monarch of the season. She was a female, flying right beside the school near the gym doors and we saw her when we were coming back from visiting our senior citizen grandfriends. Her wings were bright orange and not tattered. We are thrilled because our milkweed is over a ruler (30 cm) tall. The weather this morning is: clear blue sky, sun very bright, temperature is +21C and the forecast is for good weather- there's a high pressure front over this area. We will go and check our milkweed at lunch time to look for eggs! Yippee!!! Our "real" monarchs can see our paper monarchs on the bulletin board! Thanks Journey North and everybody who reports sightings- you have made our winter seem short and our spring so-o-o-o-o long! Mrs. Conroy and the almost world famous grade 3-4's at Sacred Heart School.
