From Lenoir Nature Preserve in Yonkers, NY June 8,2001


The common milkweed has been up for weeks and is getting ready to bloom. On June6th I saw the first monarch butterfly in the preserve and today there was a monarch in the butterfly garden for only a few minutes and then it flew on. It appeared to be new and in good condition.These are the first sightings at the preserve of the monarch this year.
