Two adult Monarch's were flying inches above a patch of milkweeds just outside of Hershey, PA, about a mile west of the corporate headquaters of Hershey Foods. This area is one of the sites that I use for collecting catepillars in the fall for my science methods class at Elizabethtown College. It was a warm (high 80's), windy day. The butterflies were very active and appeared to land on the milkweed. I observed them from a distance of about 50 feet so was unable to determine the sex. These were the first Monarchs I observed this this spring.
