Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 07/05/2001

Number: 1

Hip Hip Hooray, saw my 1st Monarch today!!! Actually it was Thursday afternoon July 5th at my home milkweed patch here in Virginia Beach. She was well worn with a small hole in left fore wing and appeared to be only necturing. She is our first official Monarch in our yard this season. AND better yet, she has stayed around. Friday she was back, spent most of the day and rewarded us with 41 eggs. Today, Saturday July 7th she again spent the day with us and we collected another 21 eggs. Weather has been beautiful, almost full sun most of the days, no rain, mid 80's, light to no wind. She doesn't appear to have a preference and has laid eggs on all the various milkweeds. We hope to see her again tomorrow.
