Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 07/30/2001

Number: 1

We have been waiting and waiting to see a Monarch. We've seen lots of other butterflies this summer and many of our friends and students have told us that they have seen Monarchs but they have been eluding us until yesterday when we saw about 7 or 8 butterflies on our street. Some were just flying, while others looked as if they were playing tag. They were very bright in appearance but we didn't get close enough to identify their sex. Later that evening while we were walking in a neighbourhood park which is located on the banks of the Assiniboine River we again saw many brightly coloured Monarchs. They were soaring through the trees on the riverbank trail. What a glorious day!!! jill fox, karla yallits
