On Thursday August 9th, the morning after a strong cold front went through, we had thousands of monarchs in our yard. I could not even make a guess at how many but for sure thousands. Our large oak trees looked orange. Most of them left Thursday afternoon (8/9), and by Friday morning (8/10) we only had a few hundred left. Today we still have a few hundred here even this cool morning (8/13); it's 43 (F) here. The monarchs started to arrive here on August 1st with about 40-50 that day. The numbers grew into the thousands by the 9th. I spent many hours watching them during those days, it has been unbelievable. Watching them quiver awake on the cooler mornings, and come in and out of the yard to and from the clover. If anyone has any questions let me know and I'll try to answer them.
