I spotted 6 Monarch butterflies feeding on Golden Rod near my home. I live on the Allegany plateau 2400 feet above sea level on top of a hill. The Golden Rod field we have is only about half an acre, the rest of the land is evergreens. I very rarely see Monarchs at our house, the six stayed around for 3 days . I was able to tag 3 of them.
