Rufous Hummingbirds Moving in East of the Cascades!
Mike Patterson reports that Rufous Hummingbirds are now showing up east of the Cascade Mountains, mostly in Washington and Idaho. He says that sightings of them have been mostly around the Columbia and Snake Rivers. Mike notes that weather is still unsettled and colder than average--this past week it even snowed in central Oregon.

If YOU see a Rufous Hummingbird in the West, make sure you report it to Mike Patterson. And if you see hummers, make sure you let him know if any flowers are blooming, too!
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds Surge Onward!
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are rushing north! Notice how much of their breeding range is now filled in. They have arrived at some places with very few flowers blooming. What do you think they're eating?
