Manatee Migration Update: February 25, 2004
Today's Update answers last week's Challenge Questions with a few of your responses too! Who was the "marathon" manatee--study the "moving" animated map to see and learn how unique it was. Listen to Ranger Wayne explain what drives the different daily manatee count numbers at Blue Spring. And try this "cool" experiment on why manatees don't tolerate cold water temperature. Plus a new mystery photo.
Manatee Migration Update: March 3, 2004
Your day has come--Ranger Wayne wants you "in the canoe"! Can you tell him which manatees are in the Run today? And the latest migration maps are in--which manatees have visited new territory, where and why? Meet Dr. Holly Edwards, who has the results of the latest statewide aerial manatee count. What do the aerial count numbers really mean and why can they be controversial? Ask the Expert is now open!
Have you submitted your manatee questions for Nancy yet?
Manatee Migration Update: March 10, 2004
Today's Update answers last week's Challenge Questions. Listen to Ranger Wayne's audio answer and find out who correctly identified the manatees. What did the weather maps reveal about aerial manatee counts? What effect do water surface conditons have--"see" for yourself in the photo study. And what do manatee counts really mean about population? Last, but not least, have you thought of any Ask the Expert questions yet? Be sure to send your questions in by this Friday!

Why are some manatees heading offshore to Cape Romano? Look at the latest migration data and maps to find out who and why. And study our videos which let you try to identify a moving manatee, fly an aerial count from the classroom cockpit, and test the lungs of a human and a manatee. Who do you think has more lung power?
Manatee Migration Update: March 24, 2004
Today's Update answers last week's Challenge Questions. Susan reveals what is attracting manatees offshore. Find out from Ranger Wayne if your correctly identified the moving manatee--are you now a part of his research team? And are you ready to join the aerial flight crew--how many manatees did you count?
Manatee Migration Update: March 31, 2004
What's happened to Anna and Actual? There's no tracking data being received from their tags, so a search is under way. Meanwhile, another manatee has headed up north, and others keep leaving the lush seagrass bed to come back inland. Why? Check the latest migration maps and data to see for yourself. Are you hungry? Could you eat as much as a Manatee-even if you were eating pizza? And why do manatees continually lose teeth, but never have a shortage? Read about this and other amazing manatee adaptations.
Manatee Migration Update: April 7, 2004
Today's Update answers last week's Challenge Questions and more. Susan reveals what can cause satellite tracking signals to stop, and then gives you the details on how scientists search for missing manatees--also called "CSI Manatee". Plus we have the latest news on Anna and Actual--only one of them is still missing. And are you sick of all that pizza? You won't believe how much you'd have to eat to keep up with a manatee's daily diet!
