Born On the Way
Each fall, some of the pregnant females give birth before reaching the nursery lagoons in Mexico. There the more protected, wamr waters reduce heat loss in th babies. This newborn calf and Mom appeared to be doing just fine. They were seen near Santa Barbara, California on their way to Mexico.
