Awaiting the Babies
When will the first mothers with babies reach the California Coast? Volunteers trained to watch and count passing whales are eagerly waiting at three locations. At Gray Whales Count, near Santa Barbara, they keep track of daily totals on a tally board like this one. They hope to see their first mom/baby pair this month!
