Third graders Amanda and Matthew write that our lives depend on leaves.
Leaves need carbon dioxide to live and they give off oxygen. We need the
oxygen to breathe. When leaves fall off the trees, they turn into soil.
People use that soil to grow trees and vegetables. We use the trees for
    food and shelter.
