  • Challenge Question #1

We are the First Grade Class of St. John the Baptist School
in Milwaukie, Oregon. We assigned 4 field reporters to
check with various wildlife experts about groundhogs
living in Oregon. Here are our findings:

Nicholas talked with Jane, a ranger at Tryon Creek State
Park and was told that groundhogs do not live in Oregon,
but their cousins the Marmot does.

Derek talked with Rod Lenemi with the Oregon
Department of Fish and Wildlife and was also told that
groundhogs are not found in our area.

Isaac talked with Denise at the Oregon Museum of Science
and Industry. Again, no groundhogs found in Oregon.

Kimberly talked with Tracey at the Metro Washington Park
Zoo. Once again we were told that groundhogs do not live
    in Oregon.

We had lots of fun discussing who we might ask for some
expert advise. We also used this as a chance to practice
    our telephone manners.

    Your Friends,

    Mrs. Kennedy's First Grade Class
