2nd Grade Teacher Shares Ideas for Mystery Class

This 2nd grade teacher shares ideas about calculating photoperiod with
her students. She offers to share the worksheets she's created. (See below.)

    Subject: Mystery Class Data

My second graders and I found that computing the photoperiod time was
difficult and complicated for them with their current level of skill.
But I was determined to make this a successful experience and use of the
Internet, so I devised a worksheet that helps the students to convert
the military time to standard time and then to tally the hours and
convert additional minutes to hours as needed.

I also ended up designing a worksheet to help them decide what their number
of minutes in the photoperiod time means in fractions so that they can
    correctly
represent the time on the graph that Journey North provided. The whole
process is time consuming but when I use the additional help I receive
when my two University of Mass students are with me, the kids are
catching on to some pretty sophisticated math processes and are becoming
    more familiar with calculators.

I'm not sure how I could send this across the Net but if anyone wasnts some
help I could fax them or send them out by regular mail.
