Mrs. Chapman's kindergartners thought of many reasons
why there was only one butterfly spotted and reported
on the Internet last week. They thought maybe the
monarchs were in a different place hibernating under
leaves and sticks covered with leaves. Chris and
Daulton thought maybe all the others died. Daulton
thought from a snowstorm. He also thought maybe from
poison. If you rock the water, you get the poisons.
Elliott that that snowing got them frozen. Maybe
there was no milkweed. Maybe somebody was hunting for
butterfly. Maybe they disguised themselves as leaves.
Then if hunters saw them they would do that. Maybe
it is because a flying mouse might soar up and get
    them.

REporting from Peabody School, from Jan MacKinnon,
    librarian.
