Dear Journey North,
Thank you for all the opportunities you provide. Please consider the names that we are suggesting for some of the whales. A small group of 3rd grade students had a great time thinking and brainstorming ideas. Here are the names that we came up with:
0018 - We thought that "14" would be a good name because the scratches on the left fluke look like the number 14.
Fan's Calf - We thought "X-Wing" would be a good name. It looks like a Star Wars' Space Ship and it has an "X" near the edge of the fluke.
0023 - We thought that "Penguin" was a good name because the pattern on each fluke looks like a penguin. There is an eye and a beak near the tip of each fluke and he white pattern looks like the body of a penguin.
Palettes Calf - We thought that "Minnesota" was a good name for this one. It has a big black shape near the edge of the left fluke that looks like the shape of Minnesota, our home state.
Inland's Calf - We thought that "Leopard" would be a good name for this whale because of all the black spots all over the flukes.
Bungee's Calf - We thought that "Alien" would be a good name for this whale. The scratches on the right fluke look like the face of an alien with its mouth open.
0006 - We thought that "V" would be a good name for this one. It has a "V" shaped scratch on the edge of the right fluke.
Foggy's Calf - We thought that "Astonish" might work for this one. The marks on the left fluke look like marks to show surprise or astonishment that you see in pictures in books.
