Scientists use different terms for the times of day an animal is active. Owls and bats are nocturnal, meaning they are active at night. Other animals are busy during daylight hours and are considered diurnal. Deer, skunks, and most hummingbirds often show more activity in the crepuscular hours of dawn and dusk.
"Even though the Rufous hummers have taken over the garden, several male Anna's are still hanging out. But they come to the feeders mostly during the crepuscular hours of dawn and dusk," shared John in Bellingham, Washington on April 27th.
