During winter,since it is cold, their muscles shiver and their feathers
keep their bodies warm allowing them to continue foraging for food. During
this time of year, eagles rely on other scavengers to hack into a dead deer
carcass before they can pick up and swallow loose chips of meat. For
example, Ravens eat the deer from the inside out and flying chips of meat
can be picked up and swallowed by eagles. Eagles also find frozen fish in
nearby dams and swallow it in chunks. They can also find mice in
fields. Sometimes people leave frozen fish out when they ice fish and the
eagles take the fish. One man sets up a couple of hard-boiled eggs and the
eagles eat them.
