We discussed challenge question # 5 with our fifth graders and they came
up with a few interesting possibilities.
1. Eagles from up north Canada) have migrated down to the New York
area and are still there.
2. Some of the New York eagles that migrated further south are
beginning to return to their home territory, meaning an overlap of
eagles may be seen together at this time of year.
3. With all the lakes frozen the eagles are congregated at open areas
- rivers, etc. making for a concentration of eagles, all looking for
food.
4. Putting all other scientific reasoning behind, it was mentioned
that eagles gather in New York at this time of year because they are New
York Ranger fans.
