Eagles use their talons for picking up prey because talons are suited
for grabbing and holding, while beaks are designed for tearing. The
placement of their feet and talons is also a consideration - on the
bottom of their body where their beaks are way up front. Balance would
be a problem when holding a fish or a duck in their beak, not to mention
having their eyesight blocked. Those are things that our Park Rapids
    5th graders discussed.
