    The following answers are from 5th graders at St. John s Episcopal Day School in Tampa.

    Chris G.:
    So they can protect them from boats running over them. So they can let them mate.

    Nick:
    They would want to capture a manatee to check its health which might determine pollution. For example, if scientists found trash or oil on a manatee, it would determine pollution is in that area.
