Feeding and Flying
According to observers this week, the leading edge of the migration clearly moved from 42 degrees N to the latitudes between 37 and 39 degrees N. Of all the states reporting to our map, Illinois had the highest number of hummers, followed by Georgia. Last week Texas led in highest number of hummers; many of those birds likely continued their journey to Central and South America. Meanwhile, many observers report their remaining hummers "eat and run."
