Hanging in There
This week again saw the southward push in two small waves: one wave of hummers advanced south to 33N (from 38 degrees last week) and the other is now at 38 (from 41 degrees last week). Many hummingbirds had to deal with wet weather again this week.

"After an all-night rain, I spied one wet little girl on the feeder this morning. This is the same hummer that has been with us since Oct 6th. Her head is so wet that her feathers are standing straight up as she fluffs them to stay warm. You can see her tongue as she laps from the feeder." Kate P. in Elkridge, MD 10/11/14
