Texas and Florida observers report many flowers in bloom for hummers arriving and fattening to finish their migration. Not surprisingly, just five of this week's reports were for adult males such as this one visiting a red firespike plant.
"I had an immature male overwinter last year. I wonder if this adult male is him—or just a passer-through? I set a feeder out last week, although there are still plenty of things in bloom." Annette C. in Cocoa, Florida 10/27/14
