Migration News: October 31, 2014
By Jane Duden
Report Sightings!

Just 41 reports this week, totalling 81 stragglers and/or resident hummers, indicate migration is nearly over. Thanks to all Journey South citizen scientists who put more than 5,500 sightings on our map since Aug. 30! Watch for stragglers, check our Fall Feeder Tips and keep reporting!

"Have never seen a hummingbird this late in the year. October has been especially mild and the flowers are still blooming strong." Linda B. in Florence, SC  10/28/14

Please CONTINUE TO report sightings weekly. Tracking continues through fall and winter to document where hummingbirds are present.
No hummers? No reporting necessary.

Explore: Tips for Feeders in Fall

Hummers are still passing through and may start feeding as early as 45 minutes before sunrise. This time of year, they really need the energy of warm food to heat up after a cool night. How else can you help them?
