Lanny Chambers says that Lincoln, Nebraska is within the Ruby-throated hummingbird breeding range. There's more good news for the sighters in Lincoln; Lanny reports that any female still present after migration is probably nesting. About the bulge that appears to be a distended tummy? Lanny says that a hummingbird hen can only carry one egg at a time, and it's not visible to a field observer. Maybe this female is just filled up with sugar water!
