Alaska!
From Pelican, Alaska, Patricia wrote, "I saw one along the beach, then I heard a hummer along the sunny side hill where blueberries grow. On the 7th, I finally saw one up-close at the feeder. It was sunny and you could hear the hummingbirds in flight along the side hills." 04/04/13

Late in Oklahoma
From Edmond, Oklahoma,"I saw my first male rubythroat today at 1:00 p.m.This sighting is five days later than last year, but I am so excited to see them!" 04/08/13

Tennessee Sighting
"Have been watching the map so I decided to put out the feeders, even though there are still no leaves on the trees here," reports Paula in Tennessee. "The next day I saw a ruby on the feeder." 04/06/13

Indiana Sighting
"I had been checking the migration maps and knew they would be here soon," wrote Tina in Indiana. "It didn't take them long..... I looked out my window and there it was, my first hummingbird this season." 04/09/13

Rufous in Georgia
Occasionally we have reports of rufous hummingbirds outside their "normal" range. Along with a first rubythroat sighting came one for an overwintering rufous in Woodstock, Georgia. 04/07/13

"I saw 2 male ruby throated hummers fly up high in the sky like rockets and then dive bomb back to earth.  They tangled and rolled together in a ball on the ground. Did I witness an example of extreme fighting?"
