Calliope The Calliope is the smallest breeding bird found in the United States and Canada. An adult measures 2.8-3.9 inches (7-10 cm) in length, and weighs 2-3 grams (0.071-0.106 oz). This birds' nests, found at higher altitudes of the Rocky Mountains are built in pine trees and resemble pine cones.
