Hundreds were excited this week to report their first Ruby-throat as the migration advanced north to 49°N.

Highlights: Hundreds of Sightings
There was an EXPLOSION of sighting reports this week as the winds cooperated and Northeast states finally had warm weather. Ruby-throats moved north into Nova Scotia and crossed Lake Superior into Ontario.

"We put up the feeder one week ago when we got word they had crossed into Canada. We had been waiting and watching."

Rufous Reach 61°N
This week Rufous hummingbirds arrived at 61°N, close to the northernmost edge of their breeding range.

"While I was admiring Adonis, the bald eagle, at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, a little hummingbird, shining like an emerald in the sun, suddenly flew in and hovered around for about 30 seconds! It was so amazing to see the size difference between these two beautiful birds! Wow - What a gift!"
