Ruby-throats are appearing in greater numbers along the Gulf States. They arrive hungry after losing about half their body weight during migration. Migration proceeds at an average rate of about 20 miles per day, in good weather. They will be looking for the earliest blooming flowers and bite size bugs.

Rufous
These fiesty little hummers are arriving now in Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia.

Southerly winds in the west brought many new Black-chinned and Broad-tailed arrivals.
