Background on the Bella Cam
Bella, an Allen's hummingbird, has been nesting in a ficus tree in La Verne, California since at least 2005. She raises up to four to five broods every year, from November to June.

Rosie is an Allen's/Rufous hummingbird hybrid believed to be an offspring of Bella Hummingbird.

After about two and a half weeks, the eggs hatch. She feeds her tiny chicks a diet of insects and nectar. The babies fledge 21-25 days from hatch and are ready to fly.

Located in La Verne, California, this live cam toggles between a popular hummingbird feeder and the tiny Bella nest, which has been home to female hummingbirds and their offspring since 2005. This nest is about the size of half a golf ball, perfect for eggs that are about as small as a Tic-Tac.
