Monarch in Minnesota!
This early May sighting in Minnesota, complete with a picture, was a great surprise.

"I was astounded to see the monarch because I know it's way early for them to be here. I thought it was a little small — maybe it was a viceroy — but it was not. I was able to get a picture of it with my iPhone. I have a certified wildlife garden so am pretty observant and really very surprised to see this guy. I don't know of any releases, but it seems unlikely that anyone would release them now when the milkweed isn't even up yet!" Marte Hult    Plymouth, Minnesota   May 4, 2014
