Announcing the Winter Robin Round-Up
Where do robins spend the winter, anyway? Let's find out! Before the spring migration begins this year,
we'd like to know if you have robins over-wintering in your town. We hope you'll help with Journey North's Annual
Winter Robin
Round-Up!
Winter Robin Round-Up: February 3 - February 16, 1998
How to Participate
1. Go outside and look for robins. Ask your neighbors if they have sighted robins. Contact your friends
and relatives in other parts of North America. Ask everybody you know to help you look for robins!
Report Your Robin Sightings to Journey
North!

2. When you spot a robin, send your field observations to
Journey North. Simply press the blue button to the left labeled, "Report Your Sightings" and a
Field Data form will appear.
3. Remember, you have until February 16th, 1998 to collect your sightings!
4. On February 17th we'll post a map and data summary for you. We'll also give you last winter's Winter
Robin Round-Up data, so you can compare the results.
Thank you for your help!!
Challenge Question #1
While waiting for the results, see if you can answer this Challenge Question:
Challenge Question #1
"Where do you think the robins that breed in your state or province go for the winter? (Or, if robins over-winter
where you live, where do you think your robins go to breed?")
How to Respond to Challenge Question #1:
1. Address an E-mail message to: jn-challenge-robin@learner.org
2. In the Subject Line of your message write: Challenge Question #1
3. In the body of the message, answer today's Challenge Question.
Please name the sources you used to find information included in your answer. Perhaps you can find someone in your
area who has banded birds. Such a person might have a true story about the robins in your region. You may also
want to contact a local nature center or naturalist and see if they can help you.
We hope to hear from you soon!
The Next Robin Migration Update Will be Posted on February 17, 1998.
