Eastern Bald Eagle Migration Update: April 4, 2000

Today's Report Includes:

Peter Nye's Last Words
As he left for an unexpected vacation this week, Eagleye dropped a note before going out the door: "Wow! I had to send these readings. Eagles #K70 and #K72 are STILL moving northwest! They seem to be racing each other, playing leap-frog."

Off the Map Again! Where Are Eagles K70 & K72 Now?
None other of Nye's New York eagles has flown as far west from New York as these two birds have. Each week we've had to widen our map to make room! Here are the last records from K70 and K72:

K70: 03/28/00 48.127 N, -83.891 W
K72: 03/28/00 49.360 N, -84.470 W

Challenge Question #16
"Which watershed do you think Eagle #K70 is now in, the Lake Superior or Hudson Bay watershed? What about Eagle #K72? How can you tell?"

(To respond to today's question, please follow the instructions below.)

Schedule Change: Dates for the Four Remaining Updates
Due to changes caused by vacation, we will provide an unscheduled, "data only" update next Tuesday, April 11. Migration data from all 6 eagles will be included. We will then go back to our regular schedule, and post the final three updates on: April 18, May 2 and May 16.
Latest Migration Data
Only one satellite reading for each bird is available this week. Watch for the update next week on all 6 eagles.
