New Invention Sweeps Across Earth!
As you know, we at Journey North are committed to bringing you the latest news and information! In keeping with this high standard, we have a special newspaper feature article about a new invention called "Latitude Shoes". It's hot off the newswire, and will be published in this Sunday's April 1st Latitude Sun Times newspaper. We hope you'll find it "uplifting"!

MC #1: "The carob, the cork oak, and the eucalyptus are trees in our country. One of our country's biggest consumers of water is a plant called the Eucalyptus. In our country we are famous for seafood like ameijos, carapau, bacalhau, and camaries."

MC #2: "The majority (but not all) of people in our country fast during Ramadan. English is not our official language. Our people speak many languages, including Chinese and Indian dialects."

MC #3: "Our country is a republic, and has an approximately 450 km coastline along an estuary plus an approximately 220 km maritime coastline; there are no high mountains or vast plains and no impenetrable forests or desert regions. The climate is temperate all the year round: (average 11° C in winter - 26° C in summer). Though in winter temperature can occasionally drop near freezing point, snowstorms and hurricanes are unknown."

MC #4: "The estimated population of our country in 2000 was approximately 100 million people."

MC #5: "I live by a sea, but there is no water there. English is the predominate language."

MC #6: "We live on an island that is neither east nor west."

MC #7: "Farming is an important industry in our country. More than half of the land is used for grazing animals. We have approximately 60 million sheep and 8 million cattle."

MC #8: "We had one official language until 1974. A lot of people speak 2 different languages. Police officers wear green, and the ones that can speak English have a red border indication on their shoulder."

MC #9: "Approximately 70% of the population of our country speaks the indigenous languages of Aymará or Quechua. These English words are believed to have been derived from one of the two main indigenous languages of our country: coca, condor, guano, gaucho, guanaco, Inca, jerky, lagniappe, lima [bean], llama, pampa, puma, quipu, quinine, quinoa."
