FINAL Monarch Migration Update Will be Posted FRIDAY, June 22

Volunteers Needed
Monarch Larval Monitoring Project

Please help with this important study! Many people have written recently to ask whether the monarch population will continue to be low this summer. You can help answer this important question! People who are interested in participating in a weekly monitoring study should contact Dr. Karen Oberhauser's lab about the Monarch Larval Monitoring Project.

Journey North's Online Field Notebook
for Your Summer Observations

Your informal observations also provide helpful insights about the monarch population size and breeding conditions. Your records will be stored permanently in our database.

Please report your observations of:

Monarch Adults

Monarch Eggs

Monarch Larvae

  • After you've seen your FIRST adult migratory monarch, report future sightings in the category, "Monarch OTHER Observations."
  • Let us know if you are NOT seeing any (or many) adult monarchs. Your reports of the absence or scarcity of monarchs are very helpful! Also report these in the category "Monarch OTHER Observations."
