But when Joe went aloft to check conditions higher up, he found himself fighting a 12 to 14 mph headwind. That's too strong for the birds. They'd get exhausted and discouraged—and you know what happens then! Meanwhile, three other special chicks in the new Eastern flock will soon be making their first migration.
