No Flight Today (+0 Miles)
November 20, 2006: Migration Day 47

They'll stay in in Washington County, KY today, where they landed yesterday. The overnight snow, rain, and sleet cleared up in time for a morning take off, but alas — strong winds moved in before they could take flight. With the last 3 days' progress, how far have they come?

Going to check on the birds in their travel pen. Robo-crane is being carried now, but will be put on the crane handler's arm before the birds come into sight. Photo WCEP.

  • Today's Journal Question: Flying 3 days in a row is this year's record so far. Visit Operation migration's chart to figure out the highest number of days flown in a row in past migrations. Watch to see if they match or break that record in 2006!
  • Migration History: Where were last year's crane-kids on Nov. 20? Click here to find out. What point had the migration team reached in 2004? 2003? 2002? 2001?
