No Go. Waiting out the Winds (+0 Miles)
January 14, 2010: Migration Day 83

Whoopers home at St. Marks NWR!
Photo: Mark Chenoweth, Whoopers Happening

Today the "Chass" Ten (901, 903, 904, 905, 907, 913, 919, 924, 927 and 929) are waiting for another chance to fly. It's very windy in Jefferson County, FL. It's down-day #1 here. This pen may be home to our ten cranes bound for Chass for a few days more, as the weather outlook isn't good. Hang in there, and send good luck wishes their way.

CraneCam will not be running at this location. See the archived footage and look for the next live action when the cranes depart Jefferson County.

In the Classroom

(a) Yesterday's report has a new arrival photo and a corrected list of birds who landed at St. Marks. I'm sorry for my error! Has "your" crane landed at St. Marks, or is "your" crane waiting in Jefferson County, FL?
(b-for-bonus)
Are you losing patience? Are you getting discouraged? Imagine how the team feels! In your opinion, what is the single most important thing to remember when we feel this way?

Journey North is pleased to feature this educational adventure presented in cooperation with the Whooping Crane Eastern Partnership (WCEP).
