Headwinds Foil Fight Plans (+0 Miles)
December 6, 2009: Migration Day 52

The cranes get a break today. They flew over 200 miles in the past two days!
Photo Captured from Operation Migration TrikeCam

After a two-day, four-stop advance, the migration is down today in Carroll County, Tennessee. They had high hopes of flying again today, but met with strong headwinds on the test flight. They will wait for better flying conditions because the flight from Carroll County to Hardin County, TN is an estimated 70 air miles. But it looks like the next few days could bring south winds with rain. Still, if the team gets in and out of the next stop (Hardin County) on or before December 12, they will catch up to last year's timeline—or top it. Fingers crossed!

CraneCam is live each day from about 6:30 to 10:00 a.m. and again from 3:30 to 4:30 in the afternoon. TrikeCam is live during migration flights.
